Hmong cushion cover – HANDWOVEN, taupe and plum
Cushion cover handmade from hemp woven on hand loom.
4 in stock
Made with homegrown, hand-spun and hand-woven hemp, this gorgeous cushion cover was coloured with natural dyes made with roots, barks and leaves of mountain trees. It was woven by Hmong women, an ethnic group that lives in the mountains of Northern Vietnam.
The applique’s decorations are made with hemp in contrast colour to show off the beauty of patterns taken from preserved ancient tribal symbols. They are traced on fine cotton fabric, cut out by hand, then attached and embroidered unto the applique square in the middle while directly applied onto the four corners of the cover.
The pattern symbolises four generations living together in a home, with love and harmony. The swirls represent parents and grandparents, and the pointed branches, their offspring.
The cushion cover is carefully lined with cotton fabric with a layer of stabiliser in between. It has a smooth overlap opening at the back.
This taupe and plum Hmong cushion cover looks perfect on its own or can be mixed and matched with other Hmong handwoven hemp items. Use it on your sofa, chair, bed, or even on your wooden floor, and enjoy.
