Hmong cushion cover – HANDWOVEN, red and indigo
Cushion cover handmade from hemp woven on hand loom.
2 in stock
Made with homegrown and hand-spun hemp, this gorgeous cushion cover was coloured with natural dyes made from roots, barks and leaves of mountain trees. It was handwoven by Hmong women, an ethnic group that lives in the mountains of Northern Vietnam,
The applique’s decoration is made with hemp in contrast colour to show off the beauty of pattern taken from preserved ancient tribal symbols. The pattern is traced on fine cotton fabric, cut out by hand, then attached and embroidered unto the applique square that is later hand-sewn onto the cover.
The pattern symbolises four generations living together in a home, with love and harmony. The swirls represent parents and grandparents, and the pointed branches, their offspring.
The cushion cover is carefully lined with cotton fabric with a layer of stabiliser in between. It has a smooth overlap opening at the back.
This red and indigo Hmong cushion cover looks perfect on its own or can be mixed and matched with other Hmong handwoven hemp items. Use it on your sofa, chair, bed, or even on your wooden floor, and enjoy.
